Troops of 3 Division/Operation Safe Haven Neutralise Bandit, Recover Weapons and Ammunition in Plateau State
In a successful intelligence-led operation, troops from the 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN neutralised a bandit and recovered weapons and ammunition in the Pandam Forest area, following credible information about plans to attack local communities.
Early in the morning, soldiers conducted an operation along the borders of Plateau and Taraba States, responding to a tip-off concerning bandits' intentions to assault communities in Kampani Zurak within the Wase Local Government Area (LGA). Upon reaching their concentration area at Dutsen Zaki High Ground, the troops encountered the criminals, leading to an exchange of fire. One bandit was neutralised, while others managed to flee with gunshot wounds.
Moreover, the troops successfully rescued a kidnapped victim, Mr. Auwalu Isa, aged 24, who had been abducted from Kampani Zurak. Following debriefing, Mr. Isa has been reunited with his family. Troops are actively pursuing the fleeing bandits to ensure their capture.
Later in the day, around 1:20 PM, the soldiers acted on credible intelligence indicating that some bandits had concealed their weapons in the Pandam Forest, in response to ongoing military pressure from Operation LAFIYAN JAMA'A. During the operation, a freshly dug area was discovered and excavated, leading to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, and 30 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition that had been carefully concealed by the criminals.
The recovered items are now in the custody of the troops for further action, as they continue to sustain operations in the region to recover additional arms and ammunition hidden by the bandits.
These operational achievements highlight the commitment of Operation SAFE HAVEN to engage criminal elements actively and retrieve weapons from unauthorized individuals. The operation will persist in safeguarding human lives and property within its Joint Operations Area.
