Troops of 6 Brigade Neutralize Bandit, Recover AK-47 in Taraba State Operation
Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3, Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), have recorded a major success in ongoing clearance operations to flush out bandits and other criminal elements in Taraba State.
The operation, which took place on 27 June 2025 in Ussa Local Government Area, followed credible intelligence on the movement of suspected bandits. Troops stationed at Kwesati swiftly mobilized and established a strategic position along the suspects' likely crossing route.
During the encounter, the troops engaged the criminals with superior firepower, forcing them to flee into the forest. One bandit was neutralized, while others reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds.
A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, a magazine containing three rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, a motorcycle, and two mobile phones.
Commander of 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their gallantry and professionalism. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations until all criminal elements are eliminated from Taraba State.
General Uwa also urged residents to support security agencies with credible information to aid ongoing efforts in securing communities across the state.
