TROOPS RESCUE 10 KIDNAP VICTIMS, RECOVER ARMS AND RANSOM MONEY IN KADUNA

Troops of Sector 5 under Operation Peace Shield have rescued 10 kidnapped victims and recovered weapons, ammunition and ransom money during a coordinated operation in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The operation was launched after several women were abducted from their farms in Ungwan Nungu on 29 November 2025, prompting an urgent search-and-rescue mission by deployed forces.

At about 6:40 a.m. on 5 December 2025, troops intercepted the kidnappers as they attempted to collect ransom from relatives of the victims. A brief exchange of fire ensued, during which the criminals fled into the surrounding forest, abandoning the hostages.

All 10 victims — including an adult man, three male children, three elderly women and three girls — were safely rescued, debriefed and reunited with their families.

Recovered items include one locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, one round of 9mm ammunition and N1,600,000 believed to be part of the ransom money.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding communities, denying criminal groups any freedom of action and maintaining security across the country.
