Troops Rescue Senior Army Officer Abducted in Delta State

Troops of the 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have successfully rescued Major M.D. Josiah, a senior officer who was abducted by gunmen in Bomadi, Delta State, on 8 September 2025.


The rescue, carried out on 9 September 2025 at Tuomor Waterside in Bomadi Local Government Area, followed days of meticulous intelligence gathering and close collaboration with community leaders. This synergy enabled troops to track down the abductors and free the officer.


Major Josiah, who sustained gunshot wounds during the operation, has since been evacuated to a medical facility where he is receiving treatment.


The Commander, 63 Brigade/Sector 1, Joint Task Force, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, Brigadier General M.A. Shonibare, praised the troops for their courage and tactical precision. He reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to safeguarding Delta State and its environs.


Brigadier General Shonibare also commended residents of Bomadi LGA for their cooperation, describing the operation as a clear demonstration of the trust and partnership between the Army and local communities in tackling criminality.
