"Trump Appoints Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to Lead New Government Efficiency Department"

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has appointed tech billionaire Elon Musk to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a newly created department aimed at streamlining federal operations. Musk will work alongside entrepreneur and political commentator Vivek Ramaswamy to spearhead the initiative.

In a statement released on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, and shared on Musk's social media platform, Trump highlighted that these appointments will support his administration's commitment to dismantling government bureaucracy, reducing excessive regulations, cutting wasteful spending, and overhauling federal agencies.

Trump, 78, who recently defeated Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, explained that DOGE will collaborate with the White House and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to drive large-scale reform and foster a more entrepreneurial government structure.

“I am pleased to announce that the great Elon Musk, in partnership with American patriot Vivek Ramaswamy, will lead the Department of Government Efficiency," Trump said. "Together, they will help us break down bureaucratic barriers, reduce unnecessary regulations, and restructure agencies essential to the ‘Save America’ movement. This will send shockwaves through the system."

Musk expressed excitement about the opportunity, referring to DOGE as a transformative effort that could become "the Manhattan Project of our time." The department, Trump added, will rely on advice from private sector leaders and work closely with the White House and OMB to bring about a level of innovation and efficiency in government never seen before.
