CHINA LIED ABOUT THE ORIGIN OF CORONAVIRUS, LEAKED INTELLIGENCE REPORT SAYS

Leaked reports from the "Five Eyes" intelligence alliance says China lied about the origin as well as the human to human transmission of the Coronavirus.

The "Five Eyes" is an intelligence-sharing alliance of the five leading English-speaking countries — the US, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

The report, a 15-page research document, indicates that the virus may have been leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, as opposed to China's claim that the virus came from the local wet markets, according to the New York Post,

President Donald Trump had earlier claimed that he had seen evidence linking the Coronavirus to a lab in the Chinese city of Wuhan.

The "Five Eyes" report called China's dubious handling of the virus "an assault on international transparency."

According to the report, China downplayed the outbreak around the world but buried traces of the disease in the country.

It alleged that Beijing began censoring search engines as early as December to limit internet-related surfing related to the virus.

The intelligence report also said that China had evidence of human-human transmission since December and imposed travel bans on people in the country but continued to tell the rest of the world that travel bans were unnecessary until Jan 20.

The World Health Organization also went along with China's claims and initially downplayed the disease.

US President Donald Trump recently said that he might seek damages from China over the coronavirus outbreak.

The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on May 3, also claimed that there was "enormous evidence" to show that the new Coronavirus originated in a lab in China.

However, Hua Chunying, China's foreign ministry spokesperson, dismissed his claims as false.

Chunying today, May 6, said Pompeo "doesn't have any evidence" to show that the COVID-19 originated from a lab in China.

"I think this matter should be handed to scientists and medical professionals and not politicians, who lie for their own domestic political ends," she said.

The World Health Organization responding to the allegation that Coronavirus originated in a laboratory in China said on Monday, May 4, that the United States has not given any evidence to support "speculative" claims by Trump administration officials.

Trump had accused the WHO of acting as the Public Relations Agency for China, saying the health agency should not make excuses for people who make horrible mistakes.

"I think that the World Health Organisation should be ashamed of themselves because they are like the Public Relations Agency for China. They shouldn't be making excuses for people that make horrible mistakes. Especially mistakes that are causing hundreds of thousands of people around the world to die."

The Coronavirus has infected over 3.7 million people around the world and is responsible for over 258 thousand deaths.
