COMMERCIAL VEHICLE PASSENGERS ESCAPE DEATH AS GUNMEN OPEN FIRE ALONG ADO- AKURE ROAD
A commercial vehicle and some of its passengers have narrowly escaped being kidnapped by suspected gunmen following their attack in Ikere LGA, Ekiti State.
The information available indicates that the commercial vehicle took off from Ado-Ekiti in Ekiti State at about 1630hrs on 15th May 2023 and headed to Akure, Ondo State, when the gunmen numbering about five and armed with guns and other dangerous weapons started shooting sporadically causing the vehicle to run into a ditch around Iju/Itaogbolu/Ikere-Ekiti road.
Nonetheless, shots from the gunmen dispersed some of the passengers in the vehicle to the bush with bullets injury. And about five others were kidnapped.
Consequently, about three of the travelers wounded have been taken to private health facilities in Ikere-Ekiti for treatment.
Meanwhile, the operatives of Ekiti State Police Command who are yet to receive kidnapping reports are on their toe investigating the incident while the state sister security agencies including Amotekun were combing the bush to halt the kidnappers' activities and to rescue the victim unhurt.
