Delta Police Arrest Suspected Armed Robber, Recover Pistol Hidden in Loaf of Bread

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber and kidnapper found in possession of a fabricated Beretta pistol ingeniously concealed inside a loaf of bread.


According to a statement from the Command, the arrest took place on November 6, 2025, at about 8:45 a.m., when operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) were conducting a routine stop-and-search operation at Koka Roundabout, Asaba.


During the operation, the officers intercepted a young man whose suspicious behavior prompted a thorough search. Upon inspection, a locally fabricated Beretta pistol was discovered neatly hidden within a loaf of bread.


The suspect, identified as Nnamdi Stanley Chibuike, 24, of Ogbeowele Quarters, behind General Hospital, Asaba, was immediately apprehended and taken into custody. The recovered firearm has been secured as an exhibit, while investigations are underway to determine his possible links to cases of armed robbery and kidnapping within Asaba and surrounding communities.


Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, lauded the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, describing the discovery as evidence of the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing.


He reaffirmed the Command’s determination to identify, arrest, and prosecute all criminal elements, regardless of their methods. The CP also urged residents to remain alert and provide useful information to aid security efforts, assuring that all reports will be treated with utmost confidentiality.


CP Olufemi further reiterated the Delta State Police Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents across the state.
