IGP DEPLOYS SPECIAL FORCES TO COMPLEMENT OYO STATE POLICE COMMAND IN SEARCH FOR THE SERIAL KILLER IN IBADAN
The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has deployed special forces to complement the Oyo State Police Command in the search for the alleged Serial Killer in Ibadan, Sunday Shodipe.
This comes hours after Governor Seyi Makinde demanded that Security Operatives in the State should re-arrest the fugitive.
Recall that Eons Intelligence reported on August 11th, 2020 that Sunday Shodipe escaped from police custody weeks after he was arrested.
Shodipe allegedly killed five persons during his attacks on residents in Akinyele Local Government in June.
The victims of the serial killings include 18-year old Barakat Bello; a pregnant woman, Azeezat Shomuyiwa; a 21-year old student, Grace Oshiagwu, Olusayo Fagbemi, and a 5-year old boy identified as Mujeeb.
Also, it is pertinent to note that some angry youths and students in Oyo State had a protest on Wednesday, August 19th, 2020, demanding that security personnel in the State should intensify their search for Shodipe.
They threatened to lock down Akinyele Local Government if the fugitive is not found and re-arrested before September 1st, 2020.
The Oyo State Police Command has gone on to arrest the police officer who was on duty when the serial Killer fled the police premises.
In a statement signed by the State's command spokesperson, Olugbenga Fadeyi, he said the criminal fled when he was being led to the bathroom.
The Oyo State Police Commissioner has calmed the aggrieved youths down and reassured them of his readiness to track down the fugitive and bring him to justice.
