Operation Udo Ka Rescues Five Kidnapped Travelers in Swift Night Operation in Southeast
Troops of the Joint Task Force Southeast (JTF SE) Operation UDO KA successfully rescued five travelers during a swift and coordinated response to a kidnapping incident along the 9th Mile axis in the 82 Division Area of Responsibility.
The operation, carried out on the evening of Friday, 20 February 2026, followed a distress call received at 6:55 p.m. about an attack by suspected IPOB/ESN members on commuters heading towards Anambra State. Troops quickly mobilized to the scene and engaged the armed criminals with superior firepower and tactical maneuvers, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee.
The five victims were rescued unharmed, and their vehicle was recovered intact. Following the operation, troops increased patrols and area dominance efforts to prevent any regrouping by the criminals and to track down fleeing suspects.
This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army to safeguard lives, secure vital communication lines, and dismantle terrorist and criminal networks in the Southeast. Authorities are urging the public to continue providing credible information to support security efforts and maintain peace and stability across the region.
