PERSISTENT ATTACKS BY FULANI HERDSMEN ON VILLAGES IN BENUE STATE WORRISOME

Villagers in Benue state have raised the alarm over the persistent attacks by Fulani herdsmen.

The villagers say the herdsmen mostly launch attacks at night leaving behind trails of blood and tears.

Yesterday, the herdsmen again attacked Tse Chembe village, located a few kilometres away from Abeda- Anyiin, Logo local government area, killing at least four persons with several injured.

Eons Intelligence’s investigation into the cause of these recent attacks reveals that some livestock guards apprehended some Fulani cattle herdsmen who flouted the state’s no-open-graze law.

Angered by this, the herdsmen ambushed the livestock guards and killed them. The herdsmen claim the livestock guards have seized most of their cattle since the beginning of the year.

When they attack communities, at night, they kill indiscriminately, and in graphic manners.

It is believed that the herdsmen sneak into Logo through Taraba state then pry on soft targets in vulnerable communities in the dead of night.
