SUNDAY IGBOHO'S SUPPORTERS CLASH WITH HERDSMEN IN IBARAPA, SERIKI FULANI OF OYO'S HOUSE RAZED

Supporters of Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho on Friday attacked herdsmen in lbarapa and burned the house of the Seriki Fulani of Oyo State, Salihu Abdukadir, defying Governor Seyi Makinde.

Reports indicate that violence erupted when Igboho stormed the Fulani settlement in Ibarapa local government area of Oyo state to forcefully eject the Seriki Fulani and other herdsmen accused of fuelling insecurity in the land.

Seriki told reporters that about 11 houses and vehicles including his own were razed by the youths who have insisted that all Fulanis must vacate Oyo state.

Seriki noted that his house was burnt in the presence of the police unit, Operation Burst, but the security operatives did nothing to stop the rampaging youths.

Recall Sunday Igboho, who blamed the Fulanis for the rise in kidnapping and other nefarious activities in the community had ordered them to leave within 7 days which expired on Friday.

Igboho, despite directives from the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde and the Police to back down or run afoul of the law, visited Ibarapa town to kick out Fulanis from the community.

Online videos showed Igboho, backed by the support youths in the community saying: "The Fulani have gone, we have sent them out of our land and they cannot come back again. Kidnappers cannot rule over us, they can't take over our land from us. It belongs to us; they should stop threatening.

"Those who live with us peacefully; we are not fighting them but how will a visitor claim one's house from him. If you live with us in peace, we have no problem with you but if you decide to kidnap and kill us, we don't want you here. I assure Yoruba people, particularly those in Oyo State, that there is no danger.

"This one we have started here in Oyo State will not end here. We are going to other parts of the South-West. Tell Fulani herdsmen in Ekiti State, Ondo State and Osun States; in fact, in all South-West states that they should get ready for us because we are coming."

ADVISORY: Eons Intelligence security experts strongly advise the Federal Government and stakeholders in South West to wade into the issue to avoid a full-blown Fulani-Yoruba clash.
