TROOPS NEUTRALISE NOTORIOUS KIDNAP-SYNDICATE IN PLATEAU

The Nigerian Army have neutralised three suspected kidnap-syndicates in Plateau State.


This was made known in a statement by Major Ishaku Takwa, Military Information Officer, Operation Safe Haven.


He said the suspects were neutralised after the troops acted on credible Intelligence.


Takwa noted that the syndicate have been on the watchlist of the Army and are believed to have masterminded the recent kidnapping incidents and also the jailbreak incident in Jos on November 28.


He said; "The syndicate has been on the watchlist of Operation Safe Haven and believed to have masterminded the recent kidnap incidents on the Plateau.


“The syndicate is also believed to have participated in the Jos prison jailbreak on 28 November 2021."


It was gathered that the suspects were killed after the troops tracked them to Gyero general area where they planned on unleashing mayhem on residents.


The gang, on sighting the troops engaged them in a gun battle but were overwhelmed by the Army's superior firepower. Three of them were eventually neutralised while several weapons were recovered.


Ammunition and items include recovered;  one AK-47 Rifle, 2 AK-47 rifle magazines, 101 live rounds of 7. 62mm ammunition and one tricycle (Keke Napep), one techno phone, 2 sharp knives and 2 military head warmers.
