BREAKING: POLICE DISCLAIMS OWNERSHIP OF SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS IMPERSONATING THE DIG
The Nigeria Police Force has disclaimed affiliation with some social media accounts impersonating the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Abdulmajid Ali.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Personal Assistant to the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Friday, May 22,2020.
According to Adejobi, handler(s) of the social media accounts make direct calls with the phone number "08163352997" to innocent Nigerians and groups soliciting for helps, offering fake foreign and local courses to security operatives.
The Deputy Inspector-General Operations firmly emphasized that he has just a Facebook account that has been dormant for a while, adding that he does not operate any other social media platforms.
The Force cautioned the general public to beware of such impersonators, adding that the public should support the Force by informing them of any suspicious and illegal engagements of the impersonation.
Recently, the Nigeria Police Force issued a public statement warning the public about a phony Facebook page impersonating the Police IG, Abubakar Adamu Muhammed.
It said that the handler of the Facebook page claimed to be working in collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service auctioning impounded vehicles to interested members of the public.
He assured the public that the fraudster(s) and impostor(s) will soon be arrested and made to face the rigor of the law.
He urged Nigerians to observe all safety measures and guidelines imposed by the Federal Government and Health experts to curb the spread of Coronavirus in the country.
