COVID 19 DOCTORS IN ONDO EMBARK ON STRIKE COVID-19
COVID 19 doctors in Ondo have embarked on an indefinite strike.
The National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners (NAGGMDP), disclosed on Monday that the health practitioners have withdrawn their services following the government’s failure to agree to their demands.
Doctors in Ondo State had earlier downed tools on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, after the expiration of a 14-day ultimatum issued to the State Government over unpaid salary arrears and other welfare concerns. According to Dr Tunde Olasakinju, the Secretary NAGGMDP, Ondo State chapter, the group told COVID-19 specialists in the Infectious Disease Hospital Akure, to continue to work in the interest of the general public.
However, Olasakinju said the government have refused to be humane therefore, they have requested that their members be withdrawn from midnight of 6th July 2020.
Recall that the governor of Ondo State Rotimi Akeredolu and his wife tested positive for COVID 19.
