COVID-19: Inmates protest at Kaduna Correctional Centre
Inmates at the Kaduna Central Correctional Centre took to their feet to protest against the congestion in their cells following the outbreak of COVID-19 and fear of contracting the virus in the facility.
According to a source, the inmates attempted a jail break and the security personnel in the facility; prison wardens had a tough time trying to calm the situation.
To calm the unrest, Security men are presently inside the prison, though at least one prisoner was shot. While this close monitoring continues, the agency in charge of the COVID-19 pandemic should be involved and also other Correctional Centres in the country should be at alert and take precaution.
Calm has been restored in the facility, while the injured were said to be receiving medical attention.
