FG Suspends Max Air’s Domestic Flights for Three Months After Kano Tyre Burst Incident
The Federal Government has suspended Max Air’s domestic flight operations for three months following a tyre burst incident at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport on Tuesday night.
A Max Air Boeing 737-400, carrying 53 passengers, suffered a tyre failure while landing, marking the airline’s third incident in as many months. All passengers were safely evacuated, and the airport runway was reopened by 8:00 AM on Wednesday.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) confirmed the suspension, stating that a safety and economic audit of Max Air will be conducted during the period. Additionally, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has launched an inquiry into the incident.
According to the NCAA, Max Air will only be allowed to resume operations upon the successful completion of the audit.
