Four police inspectors have been arrested for allegedly harassing and extorting N70,000 from a 16-year old student identified as Segun.

The Lagos State Police Command, in a statement by its PRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the development on Friday, January 22.

The police Inspectors arrested include:

1. 223329 Inspr Emmanuel Michael, m, 40

2. 146504 Inspr Sunday Odubiyi, m, 40

3. 256496 Inspr Lawrence Amedu, m, 39, and

4. 255043 Inspr Aroye Dickson, m, 40

The photos of the security personnel had gone viral on social media. This attracted the Complaint Response Unit of the Nigeria Police Force, Force Headquarters Abuja, to track them for necessary action.

After investigation and due interrogation, the policemen confessed that they committed the crime and refunded the N70,000 to their victim.

Hakeem Odumosu, the State's Commissioner of Police, condemned the act of the inspectors and said it is detrimental to the image of the Police Force.

The police boss, who said their act negates the ongoing reform agenda of IGP, Mohammed Adamu, ordered the trial of the inspectors with immediate effect.

CP Odumosu warned that the trial would serve as a deterrent to other criminally-minded police operatives in the command. He stressed that the Lagos State Police command would ensure all forms of criminal, unprofessional and disgusting act is eradicated from the State.
