GUNMEN KIDNAP TARABA DEPUTY GOVERNOR'S AIDE
Unidentified gunmen have abducted Alhaji Bala Baba, a Senior Special Assistant to Haruna Manu, Deputy Governor of Taraba State.
Eons Intelligence gathered that the victim was abducted at his residence in Sabongari area of Jalingo, the state capital at about 2:30am on Tuesday, 9th February 2021.
A source in the community said that the gunmen numbering about 15 invaded the area, shooting sporadically for over 30 minutes before whisking the aide away.

The source further disclosed that the gunmen dragged Baba and headed towards Gongon -Malik area of Jalingo.
Confirming the abduction, Reform Leha, Acting Public relations officer of the State police command said that effort is ongoing to rescue him and arrest his abductors.
He urged residents not to panic over series of kidnappings in the state, stressing that the command is on the top of its game to douse the menace.
Taraba state among other North Eastern States in Nigeria has suffered series of attacks involving killings and abductions.

This is not the first time persons of high political status will be abducted and sometimes murdered in the State.
On 24th January 2021, Salihu Dovo, Chairman of Ardo-Kola Local Government Area of Taraba State was killed by gunmen who invaded his residence in the Sabon Gari area of Jalingo.
Also, on 9th December 2020, unknown gunmen abducted Bashir Mohammed, the lawmaker representing Nguroje constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly.
In January 2018, Hosea Ibi, a lawyer who represented Takum II Constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly, was found dead after he was abducted by gunmen on the 30th of December 2017.
