HOODLUMS ATTACK POLICE STATION IN IBADAN, FREE TWO ARRESTED SUSPECTS
Reports indicate that hoodlums on Thursday stormed the Mapo police station in Ibadan, attacked security personnel, and freed two suspects who had earlier been arrested.
Eons Intelligence gathered that some hoodlums had been unleashing mayhem on defenceless residents around Idi Arere, Popoyemoja, Born photo, Molete, Beere, Shogoye, Akobi and other areas within Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Days ago, a 60-year old plantain seller was killed during a rival cult clash in one of the areas.
On Thursday, the Police succeeded in arresting two suspects in connection with the mayhem in these areas.
However, the arrested suspects were freed by some hoodlums who attacked security operatives at the Police Station in Mapo.
Ngozi Onadeko, the State's Commissioner of Police, confirming the development, said a suspected hoodlum identified as 'packaging' mobilized some thugs numbering about 30 to attack the security personnel while forcefully whisking the two arrested suspects away.
She pleaded with parents and guardians in the affected areas to caution their children and wards to refrain from acts capable of sabotaging law and order in the society.
Onadeko added that she has deployed police operatives and other security agencies in the State to restore normalcy and calmness to the affected areas.
