ISWAP FIGHTERS AMBUSH NIGERIAN SOLDIERS IN BORNO, 15 FEARED KILLED
Reports indicate that 15 Nigerian soldiers were allegedly killed in an ambush by Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) fighters in Gudumbali, Borno State.
Sources say the ISWAP Fighters ambushed the Military convoy near Gudumbali village in the Lake Chad region on Thursday, killing about 15 troops and injuring several others.
It was gathered that the 10-vehicle convoy was on its way to Gudumbali from Kukawa town for a military operation against the insurgents when the assailants attacked them.
The Commander of the Joint Task Force (JTF), Yusuf Baba, was also reportedly killed during the ambush.
This comes two weeks after the Nigerian military successfully repelled a Boko Haram/ISWAP attack on Dikwa town in Borno State.
