MINISTER OF WOMEN AFFAIRS RECOVERS FROM COVID-19

The Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, has tested negative for COVID-19, after being treated for the infection.


The minister made this known in a statement on Monday, January 2021 in Abuja, while advising the public to comply with the COVID-19 guidelines.


Recall, Tallen announced on December 26 that she had tested positive after series of tests were conducted on her and members of her family.

However, members of the minister’s family were negative.


Mrs Tallen who was on New Year eve declared negative of COVID-19 by her doctor, rejoiced that she was part of the 2021 celebrations, and stressed the need for all to take responsibility for themselves and their families, to keep everyone safe.


In the Monday statement by the Minister, she thanked Nigerian women and the entire nation for the prayers "and unshakeable dedication to the plight of those declared positive of the Coronavirus Disease."


According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), as at January 3, 2021, 90,080 confirmed cases of the disease have been recorded in the country, with 75,044 discharged and 1,311 deaths.

Tallen is one of the political office holders who have contracted the infection and recovered from it.


Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, the Commissioner of Health in Lagos State, Prof. Akin Abayomi, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed amongst others also recovered from the infection.
