NAF Chief to Troops: Maintain Pressure on Bandits, Protect Innocent Lives

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, has directed Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel to intensify air offensives against bandits while ensuring the safety of civilians. His directive aligns with the NAF’s Civilian Harm Mitigation Action Plan, emphasizing precision air operations that minimize civilian casualties.

Air Marshal Abubakar gave the charge during his visit to the Air Component Headquarters of Operation Fansam Yamma in Katsina and Sokoto States. Commending the troops’ dedication in the fight against banditry, he urged them to maintain the tempo, stressing that air power remains a critical asset in dismantling criminal networks and supporting ground forces in counter-banditry operations.

He highlighted the importance of intelligence, logistics, and troop welfare in ensuring operational success, assuring personnel of continued support in these areas. According to him, timely intelligence, well-maintained equipment, and high morale are crucial to achieving lasting security in the region.

During the visit, the CAS inspected operational aircraft and ongoing infrastructural projects. In Sokoto, he assessed newly constructed accommodation and other operational facilities, ensuring that personnel have the necessary support. In Katsina, he evaluated infrastructure projects, including a new hangar, accommodation, and a Base church, reaffirming NAF’s commitment to operational efficiency and personnel welfare.

His visit comes as the NAF, in collaboration with other security agencies, intensifies efforts to dismantle bandit strongholds and restore security across the North-West. His presence boosted troop morale and reinforced the strategic importance of sustained air operations in the counter-insurgency fight.

The Nigerian Air Force remains committed to safeguarding the nation, leveraging air superiority and coordinated strategies to combat security threats effectively.
