NAF Deploys Mi-35 Attack Helicopter to Zamfara as Governor Lawal Strengthens Security Collaboration

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reinforced security efforts in Zamfara State with the deployment of a Mi-35 attack helicopter, as part of intensified operations against banditry and terrorism.

The development coincided with a strategic visit by a high-level Air Force delegation to the state, where they were received by Governor Dauda Lawal.

During the visit, the delegation presented the Mi-35 attack helicopter—an advanced combat platform designed for rapid response, intelligence gathering, and close air support in counter-insurgency operations.

The governor, alongside senior government officials and security commanders, was briefed on the capabilities of the aircraft and conducted an inspection of its systems. The demonstration highlighted its key features, including heavy weapon systems, surveillance equipment, and its ability to support ground operations effectively.

Air Force personnel also explained the helicopter’s operational role in tracking and engaging armed groups, particularly in areas affected by persistent insecurity across northern Nigeria.

The engagement underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination between state authorities and the military, with a focus on enhancing rapid response capabilities and improving overall security within Zamfara State.
