Operation Lafiya Jamaa: Troops Neutralize Three Bandits, Destroy Camps, Recover Ammunition in Taraba

Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have recorded a major breakthrough in the ongoing Operation Lafiya Jamaa, neutralizing three bandits, dismantling several criminal hideouts, and recovering arms and ammunition during a clearance operation in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The operation, conducted on Saturday, 5 April 2025, targeted known hideouts of suspected bandits in the Achalle and Chibi areas. According to military sources, the troops first advanced to Achalle where the area was thoroughly cleared before moving to Chibi. Upon arrival, the bandits reportedly fled on sighting the advancing forces. In the firefight that followed, three bandits were neutralized, and several makeshift camps used by the criminals were destroyed.

Troops also recovered two motorcycles, one AK-47 magazine, and 13 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition from the scene.

Further combing operations were carried out in the Dutsen Zaki and Achalle axis, where over 70 criminal camps have been dismantled in recent weeks. No signs of human activity were observed during this latest sweep, suggesting the sustained pressure on criminal elements is yielding results.

Commending the troops for their bravery and tactical efficiency, the Commander of 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, reaffirmed the military’s resolve to rid Taraba State of criminal elements. He emphasized that no part of the state would serve as a safe haven for terrorists or bandits under the watch of the Nigerian Army.

General Uwa urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, and called on the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations and improve community safety.
