OSUN LAUNCHES POST-COVID-19 INTERVENTION PROGRAMME

Osun State Government on Thursday, August 6, launched its post-COVID-19 intervention programme, which includes training and empowerment of 15, 000 indigenes annually.

 

Speaking at the flag-off of the State’s Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, in Osogbo, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, said the State would also provide the sum of N100 million as Seed Loans as part of its Post-COVID-19 Intervention Programme.

 

Oyetola revealed that the programme was included in the 2020 budget, but was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, adding that it was part of the efforts of his administration to cushion the effect of the pandemic.

The Governor noted that the training would be handled by the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria(SMEDAM), and a sum of N100 million would be approved as seed loans to the participants through the Bank of Industry. 

 

According to Oyetola: “Our collaboration with our partners speaks to our determination to join forces for action against hunger and poverty. I believe that with their support, God willing, the State Government will continue to provide necessary assistance to our people in the State of Osun.

 

“To alleviate this negative development, our administration has decided on an economic strategy to generate 15,000 jobs both directly and indirectly annually through the intervention programme that is being launched today.”

According to the NCDC, Osun State, as of Thursday, August 6, has recorded  586 confirmed cases of COVID-19, made 300 recoveries and 13 deaths.
