POLICE ARREST SERGEANT FOR SHOOTING LOVER IN THE MOUTH IN LAGOS

The Lagos State police command has arrested one Sergeant Eze Aiwansone, who allegedly shot his girlfriend in the mouth in Ikeja area of the State.

In the incident that happened on October 8, amid nationwide #EndSARS protests, Sergeant Aiwansone reportedly shot Joy Eze in the mouth during an argument and left her for dead at Owonikoko Street, Idiagbon, Ogba, Lagos State.

The bullet went through the young woman’s mouth, tearing her cheeks apart, Eons Intelligence earlier reported.

Subsequently after the incident, the police said it was investigating the source of the gun used by the assailant to perpetrate the act as police preliminary investigations revealed that Sergent Aiwansoba: “was off duty and not issued with a police rifle or arms as at the time of the incident, hence the Police's concern on the ownership and/or possession of the arms he used in perpetrating the act,” the police statement said.

The officer fled following the incident. But in a Thursday statement by the State Police spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the indicted Sergeant has been arrested.

“The Lagos State Police command has arrested the fleeing SGT Eze Aiwansone, attached to the Special Protection Unit (SPU) Base 16, Ikeja, for the shooting of his girlfriend, Joy Eze. The incident occurred on 8th October, 2020, at Opebi Ikeja Lagos.
