The Nigeria Police Force has recorded several operational successes across the country, including the repulsion of a bandit attack in Benue, the rescue of four abducted victims in Kaduna and multiple arrests linked to robbery, kidnapping and other crimes.

In Benue State, combined teams of the Police Mobile Force (PMF), tactical and conventional operatives repelled a large-scale attack on Ayilamo Community on September 10, 2026. The assailants were forced to retreat into the forest with what police described as heavy casualties.

In Kaduna State, police operatives rescued three members of a family who were abducted by armed men. The victims, a man and his two sons, were recovered after officers engaged the abductors in a gun duel, forcing them to abandon their captives.

Also in Kaduna, a 60-year-old woman was rescued during a separate search-and-rescue operation on September 12. Police reportedly engaged the assailants, who fled and abandoned the victim. She was taken to hospital for treatment before being reunited with her family.

In Anambra, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) arrested a suspected member of a criminal gang linked to kidnapping and armed robbery. Police said the suspect confessed and provided information expected to assist in the arrest of other gang members and recovery of firearms.

In the FCT, surveillance operatives on anti-one-chance patrol along the Kubwa Expressway arrested three suspects allegedly involved in snatching handbags and mobile phones from commuters. The suspects reportedly provided information to aid further arrests.

In Akwa Ibom, police raided a suspected criminal hideout in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area and arrested three suspected illicit drug dealers. Large quantities of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit drugs were recovered.

In Kano, five suspects were arrested in connection with investigations into a suspected abortion-related death.

Meanwhile, in Sokoto, police tactical, area command and divisional patrol teams responded to a violent protest in Tambuwal and dispersed the rioters without reported loss of life or injury. Ten suspects were arrested over the disturbance.

In another FCT operation, police arrested a suspect allegedly caught attempting to deactivate and steal a Mercedes-Benz C300 after operatives responded to a distress call.

In Enugu, police arrested a suspect following a complaint of alleged defilement. The suspect reportedly confessed to the offence.

The police said investigations into the various cases are ongoing at the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments and the CID in Abuja.
