PRESIDENT OF BRAZIL, JAIR BOLSONARO TESTS POSITIVE FOR CORONAVIRUS

The President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, has tested positive for Coronavirus. 


President Bolsonaro, 65, disclosed this on live television with the words “it came back positive” on Tuesday, July 7.


Since the Coronavirus hit Brazil, the President had continued to attend social events, flout social distancing rules, and had been seen not wearing a facemask. 


Bolsonaro, who had vetoed the obligatory use of masks in private settings, shared photos of himself and other cabinet members without wearing facemasks.


Local news outlets shared reports that the President may have contracted the Coronavirus on Monday. According to their sources, the President had undergone a coronavirus test after showing symptoms of the disease, including a 38C temperature and a severe cough. 


Brazil’s is the second-worst hit country by the Coronavirus after the United States. As of July 7, 2020, it has 1,628,283 confirmed cases with 65,631 deaths.
