RESIDENTS OF CHIBOK FLEE AS BOKO HARAM ATTACK KAUTIKARI WARD
Members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect on Sunday attacked Kautikari ward in Chibok local government area of Borno State, forcing scores of residents to flee their homes.
According to a resident of the village, the insurgents invaded the village around 5:30 pm after the Christian faithfuls have observed their prayers.
Sources revealed that hundreds of the villagers had to flee their homes as the insurgents continued to shoot sporadically.

Residents said that the insurgents fired several gunshots which prompted them to evade their homes after noticing that the gunshots were not that of the military routine.
Subsequently, security operatives from the 117 Task Force Battalion of the Nigerian army were mobilized to the area to stop the insurgents.
Boko Haram has stepped up attacks on communities in the Northeastern part of Nigeria especially Borno State in recent times.
On Saturday, January 2, 2021 Boko Haram fighters abducted a staff of the United Nations, Garba Idris, along the Damaturu-Maiduguri road, in Borno State.

Similarly, seven hunters recruited to support the military in fighting the insurgents were killed on December 29, 2020 when their vehicle hit a landmine at Kayamla village, Maiduguri, Borno State's capital.
Also, on Christmas Eve, Boko Haram killed 11 persons, burnt a church and seized a priest in a village near Chibok, where it notoriously kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls six years ago.
