SECURITY OPERATIVES FOIL BANDITS ATTACK ON KATSINA COMMUNITY, KILL SIX, RESCUE 23 PERSONS AND RECOVER SEVERAL RUSTLED DOMESTIC ANIMALS

Security operatives have foiled a bandit attack in Katsina, killing 6 criminals, rescuing 23 persons, and recovering several rustled domestic animals in the process.


The bandits, numbering over 30, stormed Lambo village, Wurma Ward, Kurfi LGA of Katsina State, with AK 47 rifles around 2.30pm, killed two persons, and kidnapped 23 others.


The 23 abducted victims include 17 women and 6 children.


The attack was however disrupted as operatives of the Katsina State Police Command and the Nigerian Army were alerted. 


In a statement by Isah Gambo, the State's Police PRO, who confirmed the incident, the security personnel blocked all possible escape routes for the bandits and laid siege on them between Ummadau to Kwayawa village.

He stated that the security agents engaged the assailants in a gun duel and killed six of them.



The 23 abducted persons were also rescued by the security personnel. Also, 23 cows, 20 sheep, and 31 goats were recovered from the bandits. 


12 motorcycles and one G3 rifle were also recovered by the Security personnel.


The Police PRO stated that the Security operatives are still searching the area to arrest any fleeing bandit.
