TROOPS KILL 6 BANDITS, FOIL ATTACK TO RUSTLE LIVESTOCK IN ZAMFARA AND KATSINA

Troops of Operation SAHEL SANITY have killed six armed bandits and foiled their attempt to rustle livestock in Zamfara State.


The Coordinator of Defence Media Operations, John Enenche, in a statement issued on Wednesday, July 15, revealed that the operation was in continuation of the operational mandate to stop banditry and untoward activities out of the North-West zone of the country.

Speaking further, he said the troops of Operation SAHEL SANITY, on July 14,  backed by helicopter gunships of the Air Component of Operation HADARIN DAJI, stormed the bandits’ hideout at Komani Hills within Rukudawa general area of the State, following credible Human Intelligence.

The gallant troops overwhelmed the bandits with superior firepower killing 6 of them while others fled with grave gunshots wounds, Eneche said.

One GPMG, one AK 47 rifle, one magazine, and 34 motorcycles were recovered from the bandits.


Eons Intelligence, on July 13, reported that the troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI killed scores of bandits, rescued kidnapped victims, and recovered rustled animals in the State.

The Coordinator further revealed that the troops had earlier, on 13 July 2020 responded to a distress call on an attempt by armed bandits to rustle cows at Kasele village in Batsari LGA of Katsina State.


He said that the bandits fled in disarray, as the soldiers approached the region, thereby abandoning the rustled animals. 


The Military High Command congratulated the gallant troops for their dexterity and encouraged them to remain resolute and sustain the offensive in the North-West zone of the Country.
