Ukraine Condemns Russia's 'Inhumane' Christmas Day Missile Barrage Targeting Energy Grid
Ukraine reported that Russia launched 170 drones and missiles in an "inhumane" Christmas Day assault targeting its energy infrastructure.
Romania’s defense ministry stated that Ukrainian authorities informed them of a missile launched by Russian forces around 7:30 a.m. The missile, intended to strike Ukraine’s Chernivtsi region, allegedly passed through Moldova's airspace and spent about two minutes in Romanian airspace.
However, the Romanian defense ministry clarified, “Based on data from Romania’s air surveillance systems and information from NATO assets, it was not confirmed that the missile crossed Romanian airspace.”
Meanwhile, Moldova’s border police reported recovering a Russian missile, but preliminary findings indicated it did not pass through Moldovan airspace.
Moldovan President Maia Sandu condemned the attack, stating on X, “While our countries celebrate Christmas, the Kremlin chooses destruction, targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.”
