FCT Police Recover Stolen Vehicle, Arrest Suspect, Seize Weapons in Abuja Operations

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have recovered a stolen vehicle, arrested a suspect, and seized weapons during separate operations across Abuja.

Police authorities disclosed that a Toyota Corolla reported stolen in Kaduna in 2024 was successfully traced and recovered in Dutse Alhaji, Abuja. The vehicle was found in the possession of a suspect identified as Blessing Ohwobete following an intelligence-led operation carried out by officers attached to the Mabushi Division.

In a separate incident near Diamond Junction in Wuse II, police operatives arrested a 45-year-old man, Abiola Yakubu, after he allegedly attempted to evade a checkpoint and opened fire on officers. He was eventually subdued and taken into custody. A locally made pistol and an expended cartridge were recovered from him. Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that the suspect may be linked to a cult group.

Meanwhile, operatives of the FCT Police Anti-One Chance Unit recovered a pistol, ammunition, a locally fabricated gun, a wire cutter, and a cutlass after suspects abandoned a bag and fled during a patrol around the Gudu area.

The Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has directed a thorough investigation into the incidents as security agencies intensify efforts to apprehend other suspects connected to the cases.
