UPDATED: TROOPS KILL SEVENTEEN BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS, LOSES TWO SOLDIERS IN BORNO
Troops of Sector 2 of Operation LAFIYA DOLE killed seventeen Boko Haram Terrorists who attempted to infiltrate the Mongonu area of Borno State, and lost two soldiers at about 11.00 am, on Tuesday, July 7, 2020.

Major General John Enenche, Coordinator Defence Media Operations Defence Headquarters, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, June 8, 2020.
He said, troops of 25 Task Force Brigade deployed at Damboa in conjunction with elements of Sector 2 Special Forces, while on clearance operations along Damboa -Maiduguri Road, intercepted the Boko Haram/Islamic State’s West Africa Province criminals’ ambush team along their axis.

The valiant troops engaged the insurgents with overwhelming volume of fire power forcing them to withdraw in disarray.
Consequently, 17 Boko Haram terrorists were killed as several others were believed to have narrowly escaped with varying degrees of gunshot wounds,the Major General revealed.
A cache of arms and ammunition were recovered by the troops.
Regrettably, 2 valiant soldiers lost their lives, while 4 others were wounded in action. However, the wounded in action soldiers were evacuated to a military medical facility and currently responding positively to treatment.

The Chief of Army Staff,
Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai commended the troops for their resilience and patriotism in crushing the terrorists.

He also urged them to intensify the attack against insurgents in the country.
