Boko Haram fighter surrenders to troops with RPG launcher, bomb in Borno
A suspected Boko Haram fighter has surrendered to troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in Pulka, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
The suspect reportedly surrendered voluntarily at about 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, amid sustained military operations against terrorist groups across the North East.
Preliminary information indicated that the suspect had previously operated around the Mandara Mountains, an area linked to terrorist activities along the Nigeria-Cameroon border.
Troops recovered one Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) launcher, one RPG bomb and a mobile phone from the suspect. He is currently undergoing preliminary investigation and profiling in line with established procedures.
The development highlights the continued impact of military pressure on terrorist networks and their ability to operate across the region.
Operation HADIN KAI said it would sustain offensive operations to degrade terrorist capabilities, deny them freedom of movement and encourage other fighters to abandon terrorism and embrace peace.
