BREAKING: BOKO HARAM FIELD COMMANDER SURRENDERS

Due to the ongoing offensive operations against insurgents by the military, a Boko Haram field Commander has surrendered to the Nigerian Army. 


The terrorist, a 25-year-old Boko Haram Field Commander in the Lake Chad axis was said to have surrendered to the troops of Super Camp in Mongonu, on Tuesday, May 26 following the military offensive launched by the troops.


The report indicates that the terrorists had led a series of attacks including the last attack on Baga Town, Borno State close to Lake Chad. 


Similarly, Eonsintelligence in its publication reported that 11 terrorists surrendered to the troops of Operation Lafiya Dole on May 11.


The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche encouraged more fighters to drop arms.

According to him, the de-radicalization, rehabilitation, and reintegration programme for ex-fighters have been successful.


Earlier, the Defence Headquarters said that Abubakar Shekau, leader of the Boko Haram sect may soon surrender following the military offensive on the insurgents lately.


Abubakar was said to have shown body language, which the Army read as a sign to throw in the towel.


In response to this, the sect leader, Abubakar Shekau dismissed suggestions that his group was face-to-face with imminent defeat and considering surrendering to either the Chadian or Nigerian military force.
