SECURITY OPERATIVES ARREST EIGHT BANDITS IN IGANGAN TOWN, RECOVER WEAPONS AND AMMUNITION

Security operatives comprising local hunters, Amotekun Corps, and the Nigerian Police have arrested eight bandits in Igangan, Oyo State.


Police operatives attached to the Iganna division embarked on a manhunt at Budu Uberu, off Ofeegun village via Igangan, and apprehended the criminals.


It was learnt that the bandits were arrested on Sunday May 2 around 10am for mounting illegal roadblocks at Igangan. Sources say the criminals attempted to dispossess motorists and commuters along Elekokan/Iganna road of their valuables but the attack was foiled by operatives attached to the Iganna division alongside Amotekun operatives.


The bandits fled with gunshot wounds sustained and also left behind a locally made single barrel pistol at the site of the incident.

The Iganna Divisional police officer immediately deployed combined security operatives comprising of local hunters, Amotekun Corps, and personnel from Iganna Division to comb Budu Uberu, where credible intelligence revealed that the bandits were receiving medicare on the gunshot wounds sustained during their initial encounter with the Police.


The suspects were arrested and several exhibits were recovered from them. The arrested suspects are identified as; Abubakar Muhammadu Wantudi, 22, Nadera Muhammadu Wantudi, Muhammadu Umar, 22, Muhammadu Bako, 26, Awalu Bako, 20, Abubakar Usman, 37, Awalu Garba, 40, and Abubakar Usman Bako, 27.


Security operatives also recovered various weapons from the bandits such as; four locally made single barrel guns, three cutlasses, three axes, one knife, two dangerous rods, charms concealed in their hideouts, two pairs of slippers, two torch lights, and one hoe.
