
Swift Police Response Foils Kidnapping in Borno, Suspects Arrested
Operatives of the Borno State Police Command has successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt in Sabon Gari Lassa, Askira Uba Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of a locally made pistol.
The incident, which occurred at about 1:00 a.m. on February 20, saw four armed men invade the residence of Mohammed Abubakar in an attempt to abduct him. However, the intended victim resisted the attack, wielding a cutlass to defend himself, forcing the assailants to flee.
Upon receiving a distress call from the victim at approximately 6:00 a.m., a combined team of police officers and local vigilantes launched a swift operation, tracing the suspects’ footprints to a nearby hideout. The operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals identified as Salisu Hussain, Buhari Hussaini, and Umar Bello, all residents of Gajali Village in Askira Uba LGA.
Security operatives recovered a locally made pistol from the suspects, while efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining accomplices and investigate any potential links to other criminal activities in the area.
Commending the swift response of the security team, the Borno State Police Command urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.
