2021 BUDGET: SENATE PRESIDENT, AHMED LAWAN URGES LAWMAKERS TO OBEY COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

Nigeria’s Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has urged members of the National Assembly to obey all COVID-19 protocols when President Muhammadu Buhari presents the 2021 budget on Thursday, October 8, 2020.


Recall, on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, Eons Intelligence reported that the Senate President announced that President Buhari would be presenting the 2021 budget to the National Assembly on Wednesday.


Lawan, while addressing the lawmakers on Wednesday, October 7, enjoined them to wear their face masks and ensure they observe social distancing.


He revealed that the President would be escorted by few officials from the State House.


Lawan said said; “The joint session normally takes place in the chamber of the House of Representatives, it is going to be the same.


“It will take place there but, this time around, because, of the situation of COVID-19, we have made arrangements to observe social distancing in the chamber.

“We also have to wear our face masks mandatorily, we are going to also abridge the entire event because we will be many there, so the entire event will last for just about an hour.


“From the entry of the President into the chamber and addresses and the presentation and laying it will just be an hour event so that we are able to comply with the requirements of the COVID-19 protocol.”
