37-YEAR-OLD MAN BAGS LIFE SENTENCE FOR RAPING 2 TEENAGERS

A 37-year-old man, Uduak Moses Idimudo, has been sentenced to life in prison for raping two teenagers, aged 14 and 15, in Eket LGA of Akwa Ibom State.

The suspect was alleged to have raped them on two occasions, threatening to harm them if they disclosed the incidents.

One of the victims explaining to the court stated "we met the defendant on the road in Efoi in July 2020, when he bought meat worth N700 from them and told us to accompany him to his room to get the money or come back to get our money, and on our way home, we went back to his house as he directed, but he insisted that they we follow him into his room, which we did.

"After he had lured us into his room, he pushed us onto his bed and removed our pants and penetrated our vagina and he gave us N350 instead of the N700 he owed us. We didn't disclose his immoralities to our parents.

"Thereupon, in August 2020, we went back to Idimudo’s house for the balance of our money where he took turns raping us again and did not pay the debt and asked us to come back again".

The convict adopted the same procedure and raped the teenagers severally between July 2020, and April 2021, until his neighbour, a woman, who noticed them every month inside his house, reported the incident to their parents.

Justice Efiong Efiong of the Akwa Ibom State High Court sitting in Eket said, “I believe the testimonies of PW 1 and PW 5 (the victims) as corroborated by the confessional statement of the defendant and the medical reports of evidence of forceful penetration of vaginas of PW 1 and PW5.”

Justice Efiong Efiong deemed Idimudo a "despicable character" worse than an untrained animal and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
