ASUU STRIKE: NIGERIAN STUDENTS SUSPEND NATIONWIDE PROTEST
The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS has temporarily called off its planned nationwide protest over the long-running strike action of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
The NANS President Comrade Chidi Ilogebe cancelled the planned protests following what he described as a "hope of full academic resumption in all our university campuses across the country following the latest agreements reached between the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU and the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Recall that Eons Intelligence reported FG offered a cumulative sum of N65 billion to ASUU to address earned academic allowances and revitalisation of universities. The government also agreed to pay an additional N15 billion as revitalisation fund as demanded by ASUU.

"In as much as we want to register our displeasures, we are also patriotic, therefore our leadership hereby announces the temporal suspension of our well planned nationwide mass protest," a statement released by the NANS President read.
Comrade Chidi Ilogebe also commended the commitment of the FG and ASUU, expressing hope academic activities would resume in universities when ASUU reaches out to her various chapters.

NANS President, however, appealed to the federal government to look into reducing the age limit for NYSC for 2018/2019 final year students.
Comrade Ilogebe also called on the Government to look into the NO SCHOOL FEE NO EXAM POLICY practised in Nigerian schools, adding that students should be given a two sessions' school fees waiver to ameliorate the economic impact of COVID-19.
