BREAKING: ONDO CHIEF JUDGE REJECTS ASSEMBLY’S REQUEST TO SET UP PROBE PANEL AGAINST AGBOOLA AJAYI

The Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Oluwatoyin Akeredolu, has rejected a letter requesting him to set up a panel from the State’s House of Assembly to intensify the probe against the Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, over allegations of gross misconduct.

Report says the Speaker of the Assembly, Bamidele Oleyelogu, had earlier written a request letter to the Judge to set up a seven-man probe panel to impeach the Deputy Governor.

According to a source, the Chief Judge rejected the request letter because it violates the constitution which states the number of members required for the impeachment of Ajayi.

The assembly failed to form the 2/3 majority needed to impeach the Deputy Governor, the source added.

Eons Intelligence, on Tuesday, July 7, reported that 14 out of 26 members of the Assembly signed an impeachment notice against the Deputy Governor, while 9 members voted against the decision.

Meanwhile, the Majority leader of the Assembly, Jamiu Maito, had also resigned, after the leadership of the House suspended the Deputy Speaker, Hon Iroju Ogundeji and Hon Adewale Williams for alleged unruly behaviours.

The trio were among the nine that voted against the impeachment plan against Ajayi.
