Karim-Lamido Crisis: Army Commander Engages Stakeholders, Reaffirms Commitment to Peace in Taraba
The Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, has reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to peace and unity in Taraba State during a stakeholders’ meeting held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the Brigade Headquarters in Jalingo.
The meeting, which was a follow-up to an earlier engagement in Karim-Lamido on August 5, brought together leaders of the Fulani, Bandawa, Munga Lelau, and Munga Dosso communities. It aimed at deepening dialogue, strengthening reconciliation, and consolidating efforts to end communal tensions in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area.
General Uwa emphasized that peace is not just the absence of violence but also the presence of justice, respect, and mutual understanding. He commended stakeholders for choosing dialogue over conflict and stressed that only collective effort can guarantee lasting stability in the state.
Chairman of Karim-Lamido LGA, Hon. Bitrus Danjos, hailed the engagement as historic, describing it as a turning point for the communities. He urged residents to embrace unity despite their differences, noting their shared identity as people of Karim-Lamido.
Community representatives also pledged to prioritize peace, reconciliation, and mutual respect while expressing gratitude to the Nigerian Army and local authorities for facilitating the dialogue.
At the end of the meeting, stakeholders unanimously resolved to strengthen cooperation and work together for the security and development of Karim-Lamido and Taraba State at large.
