TANZANIA SWEARS IN SAMIA SULUHU HASSAN AS ITS FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT

Following the sudden death of John Magufuli, Tanzania has sworn in Samia Suluhu Hassan as its first female President.

Eons Intelligence reported on Thursday that the East African President died from heart complications at a hospital Dar es Salaam.

The newly elected President is a 61-year old Muslim woman who hails from the island of Zanzibar. Hassan is set to complete former President Magufuli’s second five-year term which ends in 2025.

Hassan, who was the Vice-President to former President Magufuli, was sworn-in on Friday as Tanzania’s sixth President in a ceremony at Dar es Salaam, the nation’s capital.

“I, Samia Suluhu Hassan, promise to be honest and obey and protect the constitution of Tanzania,” the new Tanzania leader said, as she took the oath of office before inspecting troops at a military parade.

Samia Hassan joins Ethiopia’s Sahle-Work Zewde as the only current serving female Presidents in Africa.
