Troops Repel Terrorist Ambush on Kurfi–Batsari Road, Neutralize Eight Assailants

Troops of the 17 Brigade, Nigerian Army, successfully repelled a terrorist ambush along the Kurfi–Batsari road in Katsina State in the early hours of Wednesday, June 18, 2025. The swift and courageous response by the troops led to the neutralization of eight terrorists and the recovery of weapons and ammunition.

The attack, launched by terrorists at approximately 5:00 a.m., was met with fierce resistance from the troops, who engaged the assailants in a prolonged and tactical gun battle. In the aftermath of the encounter, troops recovered several AK-47 rifles, magazines, and a substantial quantity of 7.62mm special ammunition.


One soldier sustained injuries during the confrontation and was promptly evacuated to a medical centre, where he is currently receiving treatment. His condition has been confirmed as stable.

The Commander of the Brigade commended the gallantry of the troops and expressed gratitude for the continued support and cooperation of the local community. He emphasized that such collaboration remains vital to sustaining peace and security across the region.


“This victory highlights the importance of joint vigilance and unity in the face of terrorism. We must all—military, security agencies, and the good people of Katsina State—remain committed to restoring and maintaining lasting peace,” he stated.


Security operations remain ongoing in the region to track down fleeing members of the terrorist group and prevent future incursions.
