UPDATE: NINE PERSONS CONFIRMED DEAD IN OSUN TANKER ACCIDENT

About nine persons have died in an accident that occurred at Erin-Oke, along the Ilesa-Akure Expressway in Osun State, on Monday. 


It was gathered that the accident occurred around 11:35 am, when a diesel-laden tanker lost control, spilled its content, causing an explosion that affected many vehicles.

Sources say the accident caused gridlock on the highway, while some vehicles got burnt with passengers on board. 


The Public Relations Officer of the Federal Fire Service, Adijat Basiri, also confirmed the incident. 


Basiri confirmed that nine persons lost their lives, while one person sustained severe burns and had been taken to the hospital for treatment. 


He added that eleven vehicles got burnt as a result of the explosion.
