#ENDSARS: SECURITY OPERATIVES DEPLOYED TO STRATEGIC LOCATIONS IN OGUN STATE

Reports indicate that security operatives in Ogun State have deployed their personnel to strategic locations to foil any form of protests in the State.

This comes on the heels of reports stating that some individuals and groups are planning to commence a violent protest, a replica of the #ENDSARS demonstrations that escalated and led to loss of lives and destruction of properties.

Recall that in October, Nigerians took to the media and the streets to express their displeasure and grievances against the harassment, extortion, and extra judicial killings from operatives of SARS.

However, the peaceful demonstrations were hijacked by hoodlums who unleashed violence on defenceless citizens, looting and destroying properties in the process.

Responding in a statement on Monday, December 7, the State's Police PRO, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the command will not tolerate any form of protest in the State as the country is just coming out of the aftermath of the #EndSARS protest.

“We have warned Ogun State residents to call their children to order. We will not tolerate any form of protest for now because we are just coming out of the bad effect of the protest that recently held across the country.

“We got the information that some misguided elements are trying to foment trouble once again. I can’t call it a protest. They call it #EndSARS phase two.

“You cannot build something on nothing. You cannot stage a protest against an outfit that is no longer in existence. SARS has been disbanded and there is no reason for anybody to be canvassing for a protest against an outfit that is no longer in existence,” Oyeyemi said.

This development also comes less than 24 hours after the Lagos State Police Command warned that it would not tolerate any form of gathering, procession, or protests in the State.

Also, on Sunday, December 6, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, warned youths in the country that this is not the time to embark on another round of #ENDSARS protests.
