ZULUM BOKO HARAM ATTACK: FORMER GOVERNOR OF BORNO, YOBE GOVERNOR, OTHERS PAY SOLIDARITY VISIT

The immediate past Governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima, the Governor of Yobe State Mai Mala Buni, and some other northern senators have paid a solidarity visit to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum following Boko Haram's attack on his convoy. 


Boko Haram Insurgents attacked Governor Zulum's convoy along Monguno-Baga route on Friday, September 25 and on Sunday, September 27. At least 16 persons, including civilians and security personnel, lost their lives in the attack. 


Governor Babagana Zulum's convoy was attacked when he was travelling to Baga to personally witness and monitor the safe transportation and resettlement of displaced persons forced to flee their homes due to the terror activities of the Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters. 

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State who visited Governor Zulum in Maiduguri on Tuesday, September 29, sympathised and commended his colleague for his commitment to his people. He said: 

"Your Excellency on behalf of myself and the good people of Yobe State, I am here to commiserate with you over the unfortunate incident of attack on your convoy which resulted in the death of our gallant security men."

"Your Excellency, we are with you in prayers, and we know your determination. Your determination to see to it that you resettle our good people and at the same time we want to assure you, your excellency, on behalf of all Nigerians, you have the support of all Nigerians and Allah will protect you."

"Your Excellency, in leadership there is a trials. As leader i believe one must be facing challenges from time to time as it is inevitable before you. But i know deep down in me that cannot deter you nor distract you in seeing to it that you resettle our people back to their ancestral towns. Allah will help and Allah will see you through. One thing the insurgents cannot take away from you is the goodwill from the good people of Borno State and indeed Nigerians."

"As I speak now, I am sure many Nigerians are thinking the way i do. Passing our minds back to Borno being the epicentre of this insurgency was, and now we must give thanks to Allah for his mercy. I can remember at a point here in Maiduguri it use to be daunting with bombs all over. I am sure the current situation will soon be history. At a point in time Kannem Borno empire was captured by Rabih for over seven years, but today nobody knows a single person to say that this is a progeny of Rabih. Insha Allah this one shall also be history.

Northern lawmakers pay solidarity and empathy visit to Zulum in Maiduguri


"Your Excellency, I wish you Allah's guidance and protection and may Allah see you through, may you consolidate this determination with a resolve to continue doing the good work for the people of Borno State and indeed Nigerians." 


Likewise, Senator Kashim Shettima alongside other Borno serving senators and House of Representatives paid an empathy and solidarity visit to Governor Zulum in Maiduguri on Monday, September 28. 

The lawmakers prayed for God's mercy and protection over Zulum, while also praying for the souls of the security personnel who lost their lives in the attack.
