POLICE UNCOVER CHURCH USED AS BABY FACTORY IN IMO STATE

Operatives on Imo state police command on Thursday 9 September 2023, undercover a church “JESUS LIFE ASSEMBLY” used as a baby factory along MCC/Uratta road in Owerri North LGA of Imo State


The state command's tactical unit received an intelligence report that one Amarachi Okechukwu Dioku, 18, of Umudurualaoka Uba Ifakala Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State, who was earlier reported missing on 23 May 2021, by her parents was sighted in the premises of a church located in an isolated area along MCC/Uratta road in Owerri North LGA of Imo State.

Upon receiving the information, the state Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Rabiu Hussaini psc, immediately dispatched the command's Anti kidnapping unit, who mobilized, stormed, and condoned the church, "JESUS LIFE ASSEMBLY " located at School Garden, Uratta in Owerri North LGA of Imo State, where the prime suspect and resident Evangelist of the church, Evangelist Ugochi Orisakwe, 47, alongside her gang members namely, Chidi Orisakwe (M)age 34 years, Pauline Nwagbunwanne (F)age 42 years, Elizabeth Uzoma (F)age 61 years and Chibueze Joy "F" age 31 years were all arrested and taken to the station.


Thereafter the victim, Miss Amarachi Okechukwu Dioku was rescued unhurt with five-month-old pregnancy and was immediately taken to a government hospital for treatment. She was later reunited with her parents amidst jubilation.


On interrogation, Evangelist Ugochi Orisakwe (F)confessed to having been using the church as a place where young girls are kept, impregnated, and after delivery, the girls are paid off and their babies sold to rich and childless clients.


Meanwhile, the investigation is ongoing and efforts are on to arrest other members of the syndicate who are on the run.
